John began serving and mentoring in 1992 at the Ellis unit. He has been serving at this unit as the mentor coordinator since 2015.
He has also served as the mentor coordinator for the Ellis unit (1995-2000), the Eastham unit(2011-2013) and the Luther unit.

John served as Chairman, vice chair, treasurer, and vice treasurer of this organization. He has been with CRJMA from the beginning, even when it was named East Texas Criminal Justice Network Ministry.
